Donnelly Architecture was selected to design the interior renovations to the Shands at UF 9th floor. The existing floor was a recovery unit for transplant patients and was converted into a mother-baby maternity suite. Donnelly Architecture was contracted to create a softer, more contemporary area for patients and families while maintaining an efficient, safe, and functional environment for the hospital staff. The renovations included 24 patient rooms and bathrooms, the nurses’ station and lounge, and the visitors’ lounge and corridors. The design features custom 3form patient room headwalls and wall sconces, a new open visitor’s lounge, and new finishes, while increasing the security of the floor for mother and baby.
